this is part of the initiative between the cliton foundation and the american heart disease association ,they are trying to get
as much sugar calories fat out of school lunches as possible to make them healthier.
bill cliton has something to say about this
"today ,I am enormously happy to announce our first industry agreement coca cola ,pepsi cola and american beverage association had agreed to a new guide line limiting the pushing under these guidelines only lower calories and nutrious beverages will be sold in school"
no soda,no diet soda and no full-fat milk as a whole including the food, but many experts say that the beverages are not a bad place to start
like you said,it is a small place to start, will it make that much of differences,Elisabeth, just to change the beverages?
actually, experts say it's surprising how many calories kids get from drinks.the part of the problem is that don't like adults, who drinks down those calories and not realize how much they take in.let us take a look first at soda, one 12 oz of soda, has 150 calories, that means if you drink one can a day, that can add up to 15 pounds a year,so soda is already one of the reasons why today's children are more often than used to be ,now let's take a look at full-fat milk,8 oz full-fat milk has 150 calories and 8g fat, that's more calories and fat than in a chocolate chip cookie, and so doctors say "why not give them fat-free or low fat milk with same nutrition ,less fat,few calories"
you know I didn't realize there are so many soda machines in schools ,but I guess that's a trend down, yeah
there are, there have been fewer and fewer in the past few years as a matter of fact many elementary schools these days do not have sodas with their lunches, american heart association and the bill cliton plan will be just a continuation of that, but yes,it's surprising how many schools have sodas and again,it's also surprising how many of these sodas are in kids as adult ,you down ,you know, you have one in the morning, you have one with lunch, you have one at afternoon,it really dows calories and it really adds up
no concerns about the caffeine and these drinks are with no words about the sugar, but I don’t know what 13 or 14 year-old downing a couple of cocas during school,
13 or 14,you know, perhaps 7 or 8 years old,I mean ,there have been sold in elementary in the past, yes, coffee is another concern,is another reason, doctors say get those sodas out of schools.
